Week 1 Overview
• If you are taking this course for graduate credit, please review the syllabus where you will find the course objectives, aligned with the Seattle Pacific University School of Education, and the course specific requirements and resources. You will need to complete all of the discussions and the assignments in the "assignments" section at the end of each week. Read the Final Project Description and keep notes on your ideas using this document as your guide.
If you are not taking the course for credit, watch the videos and post in all of the discussions. No additional written work is required. There will be a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
• Quizzes are not included in the course grade and are just a fun way for you to test your understanding. Everyone is encouraged to take them, regardless of credit.
Objectives: Setting the norms for our course you will:
• Participate in building our learning community
• Begin to create your vocabulary and conceptualization for analyzing and discussing executive functions of the brain and metacognition
• Assess your own executive functioning skills
• Analyze an assessment of your students’ executive functioning skills

• Wednesday: Sklar (2014), 50 Tips to Help Students Succeed, pgs. 206-216 (PDF in Week 1, Lecture 2)
