Lecture 1: Building Metacognition
This videos in this second part of week one will build on the concept of metacognition. To change behavior requires building metacognition, self-awareness. This lecture shows you to start the process of students understanding the strengths and weaknesses of their executive skills.
As you are watching the presentations, please take notes on the key ideas so you are comfortable posting your insights in the discussion. Please print the Student Executive Function Assessment Activity (below) to complete during the presentation.
In this video series, Marydee discusses having your students complete the self-assessment that you have already completed yourself, which is optimal. However, if you are not working with students at this time, please complete an assessment with either a few specific students in mind or your overall impression of one of your classes. Either method should give you the information you need to complete the discussion and assignments.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to send an email to Kathleen Rutter and she will discuss the best solution with you. You can reach her at [email protected].
